Helping you work smarter

RDP clients launch remote “seamless” applications and not desktops

The application would appear fullscreen within the client and if the application were closed the session would end.

Option 1: REGEDIT

1. In Regedit, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon.

2. The current shell should be Explorer.exe. Change it to YourApp.exe. That will change the shell for all users who log on to the machine.

3. If you only want to change it for a specific user, go to the same key in HKEY_CURRENT_USER instead.

Option 2: WINCONNECT SERVER (WCS)

1. On WinConnect Server, run command prompt as administrator.

2. Go to the directory path where WinConnect Server is installed

For 32bit Windows: type “cd c:\program files\betwin”

For 64bit Windows: type “cd c:\program files(x86)\betwin”

3.Type “rdpman /remoteapp” and press Enter. The WCS control centre will be displayed.

4. Right click on the server and select Properties.

5. Double click on the option “Restrict RemoteApp Program Use” under RemoteApp.

6. Ensure the setting for “Restrict RDP clients Initial program…” is set to NO. To allow remote client to run a RemoteApp Program upon remote connection, double click on <add new> under application name. Click on the “…” button to browse and select the filename of the application in the file directory. Then click “.rdp” button to generate the client. rdp connection file.

7. Edit .rdp file in notepad and enter the correct full server details (example:    remote.infoage.co.nz:3091)

8. enter username and password.
